Our days are filled at the clinic and Child Development center
(CDI) but our evenings are fairly
open. On this occasion we had
opportunity to visit the new pier currently being built in the heart of the city. As a
group everyone had opportunity to visit by the ocean side while Sonya and Emily,
one of the visiting pediatric residents, took advantage of the time to go
swimming in the ocean. Though this is
not the cleanest part of the ocean, it was too tempting not to take advantage
of. We followed with a treat to the ice
cream shop were flavors of ice cream included mango, lemon, coconut kiwi and
various other very tropical flavors.
Additionally we walked past a street vendor and then had a taste of some
fruits called leeches and mangostinos. They are a wonderfully sweet and somewhat jelly-like, white centered tropical fruit.
